Former NFL GM opposes Patriots surrendering No. 3 pick.

During the spring of this year, the New England Patriots will make a choice that will be among the most significant in the recent history of the franchise.

Despite the fact that this may sound like an exaggeration, the Patriots' selection of the third overall choice in the 2024 NFL Draft is their highest selection since the year 1993, when they selected Drew Bledsoe with the first overall pick.

The manner in which New England decides to utilize that choice might have a significant impact on the team's performance in the years to come.

There is a broad range of possibilities available to the Patriots. They may select a star quarterback like Notre Dame's Drake Maye or LSU's Jayden Daniels, draft the wide receiver who is widely considered to be the best in the league,

Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State, strengthen their defensive line with an offensive tackle, or trade down from the third overall pick in order to obtain extra draft capital.

Tom E. Curran, our Patriots Insider, has called for New England to trade down and accumulate resources in order to solve the various roster problems that the team was experiencing.

On the other hand, Thomas Dimitroff, a former general manager of the Atlanta Falcons and a personnel man for the Patriots, joined the Patriots Talk Podcast on Monday and rebutted Curran's interpretation of the situation.
