Sam Darnold: I always wanted a Jets Super Bowl run.

Sam Darnold had the intention of attending the Super Bowl when he initially entered the National Football League (NFL), but his first trip to the event arrived under circumstances that were different from what he had anticipated at the time.

The Jets selected Darnold with the third overall choice in the 2018 draft with the expectation that he would put an end to their lengthy streak of failure and lead them to the Super Bowl for the first time since Joe Namath was the quarterback

However, Darnold was unable to break the pattern, and after three years with the Panthers, he was moved to the Panthers. In 2023, he joined the 49ers as a backup quarterback.

During the evening of Monday, Darnold stated that he had not anticipated his first playoff and Super Bowl experience to be like this, but that he has still gained a great deal of knowledge about the requirements that must be met in order to reach this stage of the season.

Darnold was quoted as saying, "I always envisioned going deep in the playoffs with New York and being able to make a run at the Super Bowl," as reported by Brian Costello of the New York Post.

"Of course, that is what you fantasize about when you are a child. At the time when I was selected by the Jets in the draft, and even to this day, it remains my objective to be able to deliver a championship to some location. On the other hand, you have a certain level of comprehension of what it takes, even if you are in the backup role, as I am at the moment.

You have an understanding of what it takes to really make it here and actually get it done, rather than just dreaming about it and visualizing it. It requires a great deal of effort and a great deal of sacrifice.

When it comes to being the person leading a club that has title hopes, Darnold is facing an uphill battle due to the way his career has played out over the course of his first six seasons. However, it is possible that he may still be able to call himself a Super Bowl champion before the week is up.
